Born November 18, 1958, Evelyn Cisneros was the first Latina prima ballerina in the United States. In an effort to help eight-year-old Evelyn overcome her shyness, her mother signed her up for ballet classes. Evelyn slowly realized that dance was a form of expression; she could perform the work her mouth struggled to express.

The La Vida (Life Of) series from 'Lil Libros is a wonderful way to introduce some of the most prominent Latin American leaders and trailblazers from history. Short and sweet with a visual style perfectly suited to the youngest book lovers, these bilingual books will likely be in heavy rotation at storytime.
